This is also a good way to meet regularly with other retirees and expand your social network.
take community classes
Now that you have a large amount of free time on your hands, you can take this opportunity to learn things that you never had time to before. Always wanted to take up a second language? Then do so during your retirement!
Learning new things, especially languages, is a great way to stimulate the brain and keep it active and healthy. Languages will help your memory to stay sharp too, as you begin to learn new words and phrases.
travel the world
This is a great option for those of you who never had the time to travel before, and open up your mind to new cultures and experiences. Being in Australia, it means that we are very lucky to have a large number of cruise ships passing through our ports every year. Why not do your research on some of them, and hop aboard one bound for the Pacific Islands?
Better yet, take a cruise through the Atlantic and see how the other side of the world lives. Cruise ships are a good way for seniors to travel, as it means fewer airport trips and running around between hotels.
