ipac racing car
Anyone who follows the V8 Supercar season, will know that last week’s Bathurst 1000 was one of the biggest local sporting events of the year.
‘The Great Race’ as it’s well known, is the pinnacle of Australian motor sport. While not quite V8 standard you might be interested to hear that ipac has recently backed young starlet of the speedway circuit Adrian Cottrell, 27 and his Aussie Racing car for the 2011 season.
boy racer Adrian Cottrell, SA
Adelaide local Adrian, 27 was born into a motor racing family. His dad Kym Cottrell has raced cars throughout his life and it was inevitable that Adrian would follow in his footsteps.
Adrian has since risen through through the ranks, starting out as most star drivers do in the go-kart scene, before making the transition to speedway driving in 2004.
As you can see from our pictures the cars are small in size with just enough room for the driver to take to the wheel however it is their lightweight ability that makes them so quick on a circuit with a top speed of 230 Kph and lap times just 6 seconds behind the V8 Supercar division.
Adrian has won an impressive collection of titles over the past few years with an Australian Championship and several state titles to his name and at the time of writing leads the current 2011 championship on 193 points.
ipac – leading the way
Adrian said of the ipac sponsorship, “I am very proud to be representing a great company who are leaders in their field. Without the great support I’ve received from ipac there’s no way that me or my team could be achieving what we’re currently doing.”
He added, “I’m really pleased with my performance this season and the ipac sponsorship will go a long way to help me realise my dream of moving up to V8 Supercars.”
ARC Speedway races are broadcasted on both on the 7 network and on Foxtel.
Stay tuned to the reflections blog and we’ll keep you up to date with Adrian’s career in the ipac car in the near future.
