In previous posts, we’ve talked about the prevalence of dementia in Australia, with 269,000 people living with the condition and that number expected to double by 2030.
In keeping with that, Alzheimer’s Australia is holding a Memory Walk and Jog on 15 May 2011 in Lilyfield, to raise awareness and money for people living with dementia and their carers in NSW.
Alzheimer’s Australia NSW Ambassador PJ Lane is calling on Sydneysiders to challenge themselves and get involved in the event.
“By getting involved in the Memory Walk, you not only raise money for people in need across NSW but can also get fit at the same time,” PJ said.
“Join me and help us get on the move to end dementia.”
This year’s Memory Walk and Memory Jog will be held at Leichhardt Oval number three, with the course to follow the well-known Bay Run. Entrants can choose from a 2km or 7km walk, or a 7km or 9km fun run.
